I am looking for a new desktop to replace exisiting (Dell). The monitor seems fine.
Main activities are:
Word processing & spreadsheets
Downloading music
Playing videos
Storing files.
I would prefer a new or certified refurbshed machine and I am looking to improve on current spec ; i3, 500 GB H/D, Memory 4 GB 1600 MHZ
Budget - no more than £250

Keeps dying on boot up or very shortly after. Even if it can be resolved we would need a second machine for my partner.
Any suggestions on current deals to be had?0 -
Have a look at the Dell outlet.0

I'd hunt through those secondhand PC system units on offer from MicroDream.
I'd be looking at the (Small Form Factor, SFF, or Desktop, DT) Dell Optiplexes starting at model 780, certainly with an SSD and with more RAM, as debitcardmayhem suggests.
If you want an SSD (128GB might be enough for C: drive) AND a large hard drive (2TB?) you would probably have to go for a DeskTop form factor - ask the firm.0 -
I recently bought a refurbished Dell 7010 from eBay, it came from seller it-zone-1 who is currently away until 31st July. He normally has a number of these PCs listed (although none at moment due to being away), the basic spec is:
Base unit only, 3.4GHz i7, 16GB ram, 128GB SSD, DVD/CD reader (not writer), Win 10/64 bit Home (fresh install, new scratch off activation code sticker), 6 month RTB warranty, next day delivery, £219.99.
The exact spec can vary due to the nature of selling refurbished machines, mine came with an add-on graphics card. You would obviously need to check the connectivity for monitor cables, etc. Some have Windows 10 Pro for about £20 more from the same vendor.0 -
