Factor fee after move out

Hi all. Moved out on 24/11/2017 and into my new property. We are very organised generally and setup address changes with all the companies we have dealings with. Move all went really well and smooth. We got a whole load of mail forwarded to us today from the estate agent we dealt with at the time and as expected it was all junk with the exception of a factor letter dated in March requesting payment for factor work done up until 11/11/2017, it mentioned that it was now adding on a late fee and if that wasn’t paid within a week it would be passed onto a legal team and further fees. Where do I stand with this? Obviously I want to pay the balance as it’s fair that we had the factor do the work whilst we lived there but do I need to pay these add on fees? Does the lawyer not take anything to do with notifying them that we have moved out? We part x’d and I believe the property is still on their books. If that factor had sent this to the builder I would have got it on time and could have accommodated them long before now.

Assuming you had given your solicitor the factor's details, then they should have notified the factor of the sale and asked them to apportion your account between you and the builder. So check with your solicitor whether they've omitted that or if the factor has messed up.0
