Lease Car - Missing Key
Hi,
My better half has managed to misplace the spare key (expensive mistake) and the car is due for collection next month, so I'd like to get a duplicate key cut and programmed before they collect it.
I've just spoken to someone over the phone at the local Vauxhall garage who said that I'd need to take the v5 along when ordering the new key. As it's a lease car I don't hold the v5 and as I don't hold the v5, Vauxhall suggested that I speak to the lease company.
Before I come clean (which is likely to cost me even more?) I thought I'd see if anyone has any advice or whether informing the lease company is the only option?
Thanks for any assistance.

Try a local car locksmith - will be cheaper than the dealer. Citroen wanted nearly £250 from me, local guy came to my house, supplied & programmed a new key for £130. You'll likely need an immobiliser code too if it's not in the car, dealer may charge, or your lease co may have it

If you do go to the the leasing company, they honestly won't care that you need a copy of the V5 - it's a common request - you even need it for a new number plate nowadays.
Have you checked how much the lease co charge for a missing key - some have a fixed fee, say £250 which for many makes, is about the right price (or less in some cases)0
