Anybody ever had a reasonable car insurance renewal quote?

The lowest renewal quote I've had has been 150%, normally it's about 200%.
If they offered a reasonable renewal I'd probably accept immediately to save the hassle. But when they're talking £100+, I'm obviously going to put in the time.
I wondered if anybody was with a company that offered a fair renewal price, competitive to price comparison best finds and to what it cost the previous year?

Yes, I believe my renewal was slightly less this year than last year.
I am 50 and have 9 years NCD, live in a nice area.
So about as good as it gets.
It was between £120 and £130 for fully comp including NCD protection.
It's santander BTW.0 -
Good to know. Might check them out. That's very cheap too. I'm 26 so don't have enough NCD racked up yet!0

Unfortunately jsut because they are good for one person in one location and of a certain age, does not mean they will be competitive for someone with different details.
So it's jsut a case of shopping around every year.
Make sure you lapse before renewal and if doing it over the phone take a name/date/time/reference just in case they have no record of it (my cancellations never get lost and cynically I think that's because they know I have their details).0 -
Yep. Had a good price for this year from ESure. £217, might drop to £177 if Topcashback comes through, but it was cheapest at £217 anyway and covered what I wanted.
I'd just wish we didn't have to go through this every year. I'd love to stick with the same insurer if they just gave decent renewal quotes. But they bank on the fact that we're lazy.0 -
I had been with admiral for about four years covering 4 cars for under £1000 a year. This year they wanted £1500. A massive increase. So, moved it and got it back under £1000 again.
No reason for price increase other than somehow I must have fallen out of the sweet spot for pricing with Admiral. I suspect admiral have increased pricing on landrovers as it was the range rover and defender that saw big increases. The other two were much the same.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). We renewed with the same company for the last two years.
This year's annual increase was £70 -
It's Admira I just moved from.
I paid about £230, they offered a renewal of £480, I got them back down to £235, so stuck with them another year.
Then, this year, they offered £380 but would only go as low as £290.
As with yours, seems a bit random.0 -
Usually goes up slightly most years but this year it was £10 less! !!!129303;0

Aviva have normally been fair - my wife was with them for ten years. I checked it against the market every other year.
They tried it on one year, so I went to LV. LV's renewal was expensive, so we tested the markets ... and went back to Aviva. We currently have three cars with them.0
