Hi just got a message on my answering machine from the Universal AWard Group saying that someone in my household entered a competition last year and we have won.It says it is genuine and to call the following number 09066370986 at £1.50 a minute with the claim number they have given us or to wait for the operator to call back.It also says they have tried to contact us numerous times.
They say I have won either a Volkswagen or a new kitchen or £10,000!
don't know what to do.I don't want to call them if it's a scam. What do you all think?

Hi thanks for your answers .I won't call them definitely.(even though I was going to call from work
It said to call the number or to wait for an operator to call back. What happens if they call back?By the way the message was left on answering machine at home and I am exdirectory so I don't know where they got the number from.
I found that bit about them calling back quite strange what do you all think?
I have noticed though that I had a lot of missing calls during last week.Does anyone know of this company?half scottish half italian :100%moneysaver0 -

I got exactly same message today - obviously they are on a major promo. I NEVER reply to these type of deals as I do know that they are scams, but like u I was intrigued by their offer to call back - maybe that takes 5 or minutes (so £7.50) to get them to do that! And of course they then have your details for future attempts and other scams!
Still, I'd love to hear from someone who has been brave enough to try it!0 -
I always reckon..
if it looks like a scam and smells like a scam,
then it's a scam!

"someone in your house"? If it was a genuine win the person would be contacted directly by name and you would never be asked to call a premium rate line.0

It's an 0906 number - it will cost you a fortune! Don't touch it - you aren't a winner (of a non-existent competition) - but you will be a loser if you phone that number.PerrilessPerrilessPerrilessPerriless[/ :j

you're all absolutely right but then why are they offering to call back? Will I pay for their call as well?I mean if they phone?half scottish half italian :100%moneysaver0

They won't really call you back, all that will happen is that your number will go back to the end of the list to be dialled again.
Although your message probably sounded like a real person, it's just a recorded message with the appropriate pauses to make you think it's a real person.I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.0
