As the thread title says my printer is not working as it should.
I went to use the printer last Thursday and it would not print the pages correctly as a lot of the lines were missing text.
I took out the black cartridge and refilled it with black and tried again but still the same issue.
I done all the clean tests on the printer but it was still the same so i cleaned the cartridge printhead and still the same.
I took the cartridge out and put the cartridge in some hot water just enough to cover the bottom of the cartidge and left for 2 hours.
Dried it and tried it again but still the same result.
I had an old cartridge so i filled that with ink but it was the same as the other one.
I bought a reconed black cartridge and i tried that yesterday but the print pattern is the same as the 2 i tried before. The color cartridge print ok and if i print off a bank statement with colour and black the colour is ok but the black is still the same result.
I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it and made sure it was the latest driver from Canon and tried it again but still no good.
I have looked inside the printer and threr is no bits of paper in there and the clear plastic strip at the back i free from dirt and grease and the catridges appear to run along ok.

Anybody got any ideas on how to solve my problem please.

You keep saying in your post 'I refilled' & 'Reconed' perhaps that is your problem.
Try using a NEW original cartridge & see what happens.

I have used these products before and they have been ok.
The colour cartridge is a recon and i have filled that 3 times and it works ok.
The "new" recon black i got at the weekend doesn't print correct, the black cartridge that was in the printer that did not print right was refilled by me and that did not print right.
The "old original" Canon cartridge did not print correct also so that's 3 different cartridges that all print the exactly same on paper with the same lines missing.

That is a good deal if i was after a new printer and not trying to work out why my one will not print black correctly.
I looked at the reviews and people also stated that its a USA plug but i have them so not that bad if you have the catridges already.
Some catridges cost more than the printer that's why i have been re-using them and just buying the ink.

I was talking to a work mate yesterday and i told them about my printer issues and he said try my cartridges in another printer of the same model and see if the cartridges are the problem.
I rembered that a neighbour got the same model as me as she was after a printer/scanner and after doing some work with my printer she bought one.
The only problem was when i saw her last night she told me she had given the printer to her sister who was staying with her for the weekend and went back yesterday morning. She got rid of the printer as she sometimes works from home and her firm gave her a brand new printer/scanner and supply her with all the ink and paper she needs.
As for my printer i am sure that there is no print head as the cartridge has the head on it and is not seperate.
As all 3 cartridges all print the same pattern i thought the print head maybe the issue but i now think that there maybe an issue to do with the printer's electronics sendig info to the cartridge.
I have uninstalled the printer's software/drivers and then reinstalled it again and even did a hard reset on the printer but still no good.
Just to add there is no error messages or codes.
