Copying Videos to DVD format

Hi,
Apologies if there is a thread already covering this, but I searched and found nothing, so here goes....
I have recently purchased a DVD recorder (not PC) although haven't had time yet to set it up and wondered whether it was possible to copy my home-made videos across onto DVD format using my video player and DVD recorder?
Is it as simple as plugging a scart cable in the output of the video and into the DVD recorder input?

Yes thats all there is too it - as long as its home made videos you should be fine - the pre-recorded ones have macrovision on them (well the newer titles anyway ) to stop you from doing this.0

As hendersonb said, yes it is. I made a similar 'upgrade' earlier this year and managed to convert most of my VHS tapes, though it took ages as you have to do it in 'real time'!
You may find some of your commercial tapes work too - though some have copy protection, I did a little experimentation (purely for my own personal use as backups) and found that the only tapes that seemed to cause problems were US NTSC recordings - some copied but with banding; others didn't copy at all.
Au Res.,

Can you recommend a DVD recorder to record VHS tapes?
I want to save my VHS home videos into a digital format before the VHS player dies. I already have a great Humax 9200T PVR so don't want to spend a fortune on something with Freeview capabilities etc but I do want something that will do the job properly and not cost me a fortune. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.0
