Offers and Colkection

I have listed an item as collection only.

I've had an offer which appears to suggest I need to post it.

Can the eBay offer system do that ?

I'm not entirely sure I follow? Buyers can ask for whatever they want, the eBay system would not stop someone asking for item to be posted.

Incidentally have a read of the sticky thread about the problems of collection only items.

I have sold items that are "collection only" and never had a problem. If your item was clearly listed as "buyer collects at own cost", then you should only accept cash on collection. Do not accept paypal, as you will have no proof of postage/delivery.

As above, read the sticky thread.

Unless the item is a car or motor vehicle the preferred option will still show as PayPal if buyer goes through checkout. With all the new rules around defects and seller performance cash on collection might not be an easy option anymore if buyer is difficult.

My collection only items now don't go anywhere near eBay, I prefer Shpock or Facebook marketplace.

So when I go through the offer process, (using my fathers ebay account) I don't seam to be able to request postage!

It would allow me to add a message i.e. request postage when I proceed as though I was going to make an offer.

As per the sticky thread, it also shows me that PayPal is preferred....

Oh yes! I was accidentally sent completely the wrong radiator. Seller said bin it. But I thought I may as well list locally before I bin it.

I guess I should put it on gumtree as more if a local service.

When I view the offer it says

Posts to. (Post code and county)

    Does not say seller message:

In that case it isn't a request for postage, it is just the normal offer that comes up to give the buyer's address. Ebay systems are not clever enough to recognise that a collection only item doesn't need a post to address. It is useful though to know whether the buyer is local enough likely to collect before you accept the offer, although I did once have someone arrange to pick something art work en route to a holiday on the coast, their address was actually several hundred miles away!

Thanks Soolin. You are absolutely correct. Just tested this will my fathers account and that offer was similar.

Now if only I could message the seller to be sure it's collection only!
