Selling a high value item on ebay advice!

Hi,

I am trying to sell an item for £800 on eBay as collection only, with not much luck. The item is brand new and under the full price, so it is not a price issue.

I seem to get people interested who live 6 hours away, therefore I would need to post. I am concerned about accepting Paypal for such a high value item, as I am worried about chargebacks.

Any advice would be appreciated thanks!

If you are worried then you shouldn't do it. Ebay isn't for everyone/everything.

Paypal give a buyer 6 months (180days) to file a SNAD (significantly not as described) case. That's a long time to worry. A chargeback can be longer and some threads on here have had them years down the line.

What is the item? Could you sell on another site?

Thanks, yes I would worry. I don't know if there is much you can do a chargebacks?

It's a handbag. It is just knowing where to list it.

Do you have the receipt for the handbag to show authenticity?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If you are nervous then a designer handbag is probably not the best sort of thing to try and sell on ebay, not only do you risk a potential scammer picking up on you being new and playing you, but you risk getting listing pulled by ebay under the vERO scheme.

If you do go down the ebay route then please read the sticky thread about the problems of collection only items, and also the postage thread.

Personally I would save the ebay fees and try facebook marketplace or Shpock and see if you can hold out for a cash on collection.

For such an item try one of the high street shops that sell 2nd hand designer wear, they sell the item for you in their shop and keep a percentage of the sale price. There's no way you should even be thinking of selling it on Ebay.

Try vestiaire collectif for designer items
