Council Tax Benefit

I shouldn't worry about this visit, I had a man come and visit me out of the blue. The house was freezing (broken central heating) and he was lovely, very kind and helpful, just asked if I was living alone, etc. Don't stress about it, if everything is correct with your claim there is no need to worry.0

This shows the guidelines re home visits

My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Thanks CIS,
Points 6.3 to 6.32 suggest that the information given to the OP by the council worker (that a home visit is a legal requirement) is incorrect.Gone ... or have I?0 -
And the problem with someone visiting you is????
It's no big deal, is it? My son had two visits when he was on Council Tax Benefit.

I had that visit very recently, htough had to take a mornign of work for it so was a bit annoyed. She just came in, sat down, went through the paperwork, we shared a rant about how hhigh my rent was and how it was impossible for me to get a council house cause the list is so long, and then left about 15 minutes later.
It was fine but did feel intrusive, ut guess they are only doing their job.£2 Savers club £0/£150

Some people have circumstances that might not make it practical. I am agoraphobic, jdeerfc1 has a disability, and the OP may also have their own reasons that they do not want to share on here.
As a result of my visit, my condition was made considerably worse, and I could barely even get out of bed for days afterwards. No big deal?Gone ... or have I?0 -

OK, ye, I appreciate that, and I apologise for being insensitive. At one time my husband could not have coped with such a visit.
I took it to mean that the OP just didn't think they should come to the house and I didn't see what the problem was. If there is a genuine reason I apologise.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
