ebay sellers fees not mine ebay says I'm associated with the account

I had a notification a few days ago from PP that I'd made a payment of £75.54 to ebay for sellers fees, I haven't sold on ebay for years so shouldn't have any fees.
Several hours of phone calls to ebay & PP later & both are saying that there's nothing that can be done.
PP claim was turned down as they say it's ebay fees.
Ebay investigated and have said that the fees aren't from my account but an account that I'm associated with, therefore I have to pay it.
Several years ago I sold a wholesale lot and the buyer wanted the ebay acct, as it was a business ebay said that it was ok to transfer the ebay acct to the buyer.
I set up a new email address for the buyer & removed all my details from the account.
The buyer obviously didn't run the account properly as they kept getting suspended, each time they were my private account was as well. (After a phone call CS reinstated my account, as they believed that I was no longer associated with the account)
A couple of years ago my private account was suspended indefinitely, as they no longer believed that I wasn't associated with the account. As I was banned from selling * would have thought the other party was as well.
I can only think that this is how they think I'm associated with the account that has run up the sellers fees. Surely the fees should be paid from the same paypal account that the money goes into for the sales and I've not received any money.
Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve this please?

This is a tricky one. eBay don't allow the sale of accounts, the person who opened it remains responsible forever for it as you have found out. However, if you sell an ongoing business in its entirety with the goodwill and everything stated in the sale then technically you can sell the eBay account with it. Proving that happened might be difficult though as it isnt just a case of saying that's what happened, you will need the paperwork to prove it. Do you have any paper work at all to support the sale of a business, perhaps something submitted with your accounts to HMRC?
If you do have proof then phone eBay, get an address or email and send them the documents.
If not, you may have to give up using PayPal as well, you can't just close a PayPal account as they leave it dormant but usable for 180 days, but you can remove any funding source. That way they would have to chase you for any further bills, but apart from a few nasty letters, and possibly a debt collector turning up, that's about it. No one has just shown proof that eBay have gone as far as the courts to recover fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This is a bit old but it explains the only way to sell a business eBay account

However, the article fails to explain what happens if the new owner defaults but where original owner kept the PayPal account and just disassociated it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks, I shall read through that link tomorrow.
Can you have your payments from sales into one pp account & pay sellers fees from another? I would have thought that you could only have one pp account associated with a selling account.
I don't even know if it is this other account, as I had an indefinite selling ban when they were stopped from selling so can't see how they've been able to sell again.
I don't have any paperwork as I had only bought stock & converted my private account to a business acct, then circumstances changed & I wasn't able to start the business.0 -

My fees are paid from a different Paypal account than the one I use for collecting payments. Whilst you can only register one at a time for the purposes of fees*, you can have as many as you like on your listings (the bit that triggers to collecting of the payment).
Is your Paypal the original one used to pay the eBay fees on that account? Was the payment made from funds in the account or a card/account attached to it?
*You can make manual payments for any Paypal account you have access to and you can change the registered Paypal account without issue, in theory you could change it every month to pay the fees.0 -

Like theonlywayisup says paypal and ebay accounts and linked by name not by use. I have two paypal accounts- a micro and a standard/business which is allowed under paypal rules. I also have 4 current selling and buying ebay accounts (I have others but won't complicate this). All my selling accounts use both paypal accounts- depending on the value of the item being sold.I pay my fees out of one paypal account for business, and one for private (just for my own book keeping). I could though use an entirely different paypal address to pay my fees if I had a third type pf account. The very fact that I use 2 different paypal accounts to collect payments on one business account shows why they cannot be linked to only one paypal.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Having read through that, I was given incorrect information. It was so long ago that I can't remember if I called, went on chat or emailed, I'll search emails & see if it could have been in an email.0 -

I think it must have been the email address that I had used to pay fees on the account, I had removed all my info before transferring it.
It seems odd that this has happened years down the line, and when I'm not allowed sell because of the other party & yet it seems they are back on ebay. Unless when they were banned they still owed money & ebay are now collecting, I still buy occasionally.
So far the payment hasn't actually come out of my bank as I called PP as soon as I had the notification & one of the CS agents said I could cancel the DD so it couldn't be taken (this was because we, or at least I thought that I'd been hacked) and the payment would have bounced if it was taken.
It looks as though I'll have to reinstate the DD & pay it.
Then I'll close that PP account & open another & hopefully this won't be able to happen again.0
