Flight to Newquay from Newcastle

We are going on holiday next week (driving to Newquay) but just out of interest I thought I would take a look at flights.

On one site, their fastest option was

Newcastle - Aberdeen
Aberdeen - Birmingham
Birmingham - Newquay

At £564 return, I think I'll give that option a miss

Why are UK flights so expensive ?

Because you are looking at booking last minute on an itinerary that involves three flights, probably with more than one airline.

There is a direct flight from NCL to NQY this afternoon for £159, returning next Saturday.

Or you have taken the train. £234.10 return for a 9 hour journey.

Flying is so cheap!

To give this some balance, I regularly fly out of Newquay to London and can usually do it for £25 - I do book in advance.
