One of my first breaks as a young couple was to pontins Southport....decades ago....it was a shithole, I remember the fridge being rusty. Seems like nothing has changed0 -
As others have said , he should have complained as soon as he got the room and asked to be moved.

Once took our kids to a Pontins somewhere . Very worn and basic accommodation and large scale fighting outside the chalets and no security to be seen. It was dire.0 -

I went to Pontins Southport in 1987.
It was exactly the same then.

Only the name remains.
Look at the real ownership and the trip advisor reports.
Best of luck with getting anywhere.0 -
How much did your son pay for the break? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Likewise. We took the kids when they were little. We left after the second night.
I think you are actually being kind in your description. The owners should give up and call time on it.0 -
I believe Pontins are now owned by Britannia Hotels0

I went to the Southport Pontins about 6 or 7 years ago. I went with my niece who was a single mum with 2 kids and she wanted a bit of help with them and a bit of adult company.
I have to say that the apartment was vile, we asked to move but was told no other unit was available. The entertainment was dire and your feet stuck to floor as you were walking between the bar and your table.
However, the high point was the one morning we actually had breakfast there. You had to queue for ages to get to the breakfast bar all the time squeezing between empty tables cluttered with dirty plates and when you finally got to the breakfast bar the poster said you could have a choice from eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes and toast.
Unfortunately not at the same time. We got sausage and beans but every other tray was empty. One guy said his bacon and sausage had gone cold whilst he was stood waiting for a fried egg.
The kitchen couldn't keep up with the demand and once you got your food there was nowhere to sit that wasn't already cluttered and filthy.
The chalets were built in squares with a green in the middle which the balcony walkway overlooked. It was like watching the Jeremy Kyle show live every day. The cream of society at its best, dragging their plastic chairs outside and effing and blinding at the kids.
Never again, the place should be condemned.0 -

Yes indeed and their hotel chains do not have the best of reviews on TA either. Meanwhile the owner Mr Langsam luxuriates in Switzerland.

https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/business/business-news/hotel-boss-alex-langsam-loses-800185Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
