Car written off

Hi, my new car that I had purchased only this year was written off by the insurers as I was involved in an accident. The payout is the same as what I paid for the car, but the accident has left me feeling reluctant in ever buying a new car again and now wish to buy a cheap, small car. I will pocket from the insurance payment, and spend about £1500 on a used car, with a small petrol engine (no turbo). Any recommendations? I was thinking an old Corolla or Civic.

Civics are very good if you like Japanese cars.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

    Was the accident your fault?

OP ... you'll now get lots of posts dissecting your post and trying to take your thread off on a tangent. You'd have been better off not mentioning the claim/write off at all, and just saying "I've got about £1,500 to spend on a car - I'm thinking an old Corolla or Civic. Your thoughts/advice/guidance?"

    ;)

If the accident was the OP!!!8217;s fault, they only have themselves to blame for writing off their own vehicle. In order to avoid it happening again, hey should invest in some advanced driving lessons.

We want/need all the gory details and that means all of them, don't be concealing anything. Not that it really matters, your driving ability, honesty, integrity, character will be torn to shreds and all in the need to make us feel better than you.
