Power cuts
Where I live in the north west we have had 3 unscheduled power cuts recently - two in the last couple of months. The last one lasted for several hours. When I phoned the helpline I was told it was a 'high voltage fault'. When a bunch of electricity contractors turned up in our village today to cut back some trees blocking power lines, they said the outages had been caused by the hot weather.
It's not even as if we are in one of the hotter parts of the country. How do they manage overseas? Is 'the wrong type of leaves' syndrome?
Has anyone else had a spate of power cuts?

More properly a "power failure" - and are quite random. Hot weather can be a contributing factor - trees grow fast in the spring. Underground cables can fail - sometimes immediately when hit by a JCB, others many years later.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

We've been suffering "too much solar" in the neighbourhood. The voltage on the grid goes too high so the sub station shuts down and resets. This was happening a couple of times a week for a while. Western Power have done something recently that has greatly improved the situation, so fingers crossed we will see an end to it.0
