Cash on collection problem. Help please

Hi I have sold a heavy item on Ebay and the buyer is collecting in 3 days time and paying cash.

He has just emailed me asking me to mark the item as paid as he keeps getting emails from Ebay telling him to pay or he will get an unpaid case against him.

Any other way around this?
If I mark it as paid (even though he hasn't) and he doesn't collect could he potentially claim a refund from paypal and make a profit from me?

Think about if for a moment, how can he claim his money back from PayPal if he hasn't paid any? Of course he can't.

Mark the item paid, if he doesn't collect as arranged then unmark it's as paid. The only issue with doing this is that the clock starts ticking on your dispatch time, but even that's not a problem as it will be up to buyer to mark whether or not he 'received' it in time.

That's going to make the seller look a bit scammy , why confuse matters, both buyer and seller have agreed on cash on collection.

Thank you soolin for spelling it out in simple terms - just what I needed.
    What ever was I thinking?
