By all accounts that's not a bad thing, judging by the number of posts around the internet on the disruption to system restore caused by this u/d
However, see if manually downloading and installing the update works.
Download it from here and SAVE it, do not run it:
Click the Continue button next to Validation Required and the
Download link will appear after validation is done
After the download completes close the browser and any other open programs
Reboot the system and then install the update.
Was it installed ?0 -

Are you running ZoneAlarm, or are you running your connection through a proxy?
If you are running through a proxy, try this
Go to Start | All Programs | Accessories and right click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
Type NETSH in the command prompt and press ENTER
Type WINHTTP and press ENTER
Type IMPORT PROXY IE and press ENTER0 -

sorry didnt work but when the updates failed there was an error message that directed mr to Internet Options, and eventually to the LAN box which it asked me to tick. The downloads were then reloaded and installed need to check tonight to see whether that was succesful. The other problem is that on start up the system goes into start up repair everytime and then says it cannot solve the problem any ideas? It pays to challenge0
