Hi, wondering if someone can help
A relative has handed me their mobile phone to 'sort out!' Somehow they've fiddled with it and created a situation where the phone is asking for a password for them to get into it.
The thing is, they said they never, ever set up a password and never needed one for the phone. They bought it second hand a couple of years ago at cash converters. It's a Samsung, quite an old model.
I have a feeling this is going to be complicated to 'sort out,' but asking here just in case there's a simple solution....but I doubt it.
I wish they'd just use the phone for what it's for and not press other stuff :rotfl:

What exactly is the message that appears? Is it asking for a PIN, a PUK, SIM lock, a password, etc.?
If you insert a different SIM on the same network, does the phone still ask for a "password"?
What model is the phone?0 -
Samsung Galaxy Fame GT S681 10P
It's just got a box with a flashing cursor on the front of the screen. Assuming it wants a password...
i'll try my SIM in it...0 -
It's not recognising my sim, although we're on the same network. Mine is smaller and I've moved it around a few times but it's saying there's no sim. And it's still got the box up that looks like it wants a password.
Maybe that means the fault is on the phone though?0 -
if the sim is smaller then it will not work unless put in an adaptor , go pickup / buy a sim from same network from local shop / garage
regarding password , is this as the phone boots up , or when android has loaded0 -
It's when it's loaded. Although you can't see the usual icons, I assume because you first have to unlock the thing with a password..
I'll do that with the sim, thanks.0 -
ok I am thing a full reload of android , await other replies0

I'd remove the battery, count to 10 slowly and then put the battery back.
Every phone that had gone bad that I have delt with has an error message displayed. Every one with no message or gobbledegook needed its firmware re-flashing0 -
She may have accidentally turned on the PIN lock, which network is it, we'll try the default code,
Is the phone registered to her?
You need to be using a mini SIM, ie the largest size normally used nowadays0
