PPI claim with Lloyds - request to provide reason for claim??

Hi everyone
Recently got round to completing on line claim forms with banks I've had accounts with just to start the ball rolling and Lloyds have written back asking me to complete a long questionnaire, detailing each account and why I believe I was mis-sold PPI. Is this the norm, that you have to prove to the bank why you believe this is the case? My account goes back to the old TSB days some 35 years ago, so I have no idea if I had PPI or not. I appreciate banks may want customers to prove the case but surely not for accounts which are decades old? Has anyone else come across this or have banks basically put their hands up and said "yes, it was mis-sold"?
Thanks,
Andy.

Yes. You are making an allegation of wrongdoing. So, you need to provide the info in respect of that.My account goes back to the old TSB days some 35 years ago, so I have no idea if I had PPI or not.
That is going back to the days before PPI. And what do you mean by account? TSB current accounts didnt have PPI.I appreciate banks may want customers to prove the case but surely not for accounts which are decades old?
So, you are effectively saying "give me some money" without saying why they should and expect them to do that. If someone said the same to you would you automatically pay them?Has anyone else come across this or have banks basically put their hands up and said "yes, it was mis-sold"?
There is nothing wrong with having PPI. The whole issue is about how it was sold and whether it was suitable for that individual. Some types of PPI sees most complaints upheld. Some types see most complaints rejected.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Also, you won't get a refund simply by having had PPI. In order for it to be refunded, you have to show how it was mis-sold to you. It is not somehow wrong to have insurance, so any complaint needs to focus on eligibility and/or suitability.
So forget about filling in "complaint" forms for these Banks and simply ask them directly if you ever had PPI. Only if they reply in the affirmative should you proceed further.0
