Got my Soundbar - need help setting up please.

Just plugged my soundbar into my TV with an optical audio cable and the difference is amazing.

However ... I can't operate either the TV remote or the PVR remote while the soundbar is plugged in.

The manual suggests that I also need to connect the TV to the PVR (Humax) with an HDMi cable, and here's my problem - the PVR doesn't have an HDMi port. The Humax is connected via a scart lead to the TV at the moment and the only other port (apart from another scart) is called a RS232-C.

On the back of the TV are two banks of Components IN (red & white) and green/blue/red. Also a RS232-C IN, RGB IN and an HDMi. Also AV IN 2, yellow/white & red.

There is an unused PORT IN on the soundbar.

Can somebody please tell me how I can achieve that final connection?

I don't see how connecting a sound bar would affect the remote control functions. Neither would HDMI Vs SCART connection.

Could there be something else going on? Is the sound bar blocking the IR sensor on the TV? Remote control batteries ran out coincidentally?

Are none of the remote control functions working, or do you just mean the volume control?

Plenty of clearance between bottom of TV and top of soundbar.

The remotes (Humax, TV) work fully in isolation, but not when the Soundbar is connected. This is an LG soundbar and an LG TV. The soundbar remote works for selecting all except volume - so OK for selecting voice/cinema etc.

If I disconnect the soundbar, then the TV remote works when antenna is selected in the settings, and Humax remote works when AV is selected.

YES! Thank you!! Switched off Simplex and all works, with the exception of the volume up & down on the soundbar remote, but I can carry on and use the Humax remote for that so no biggy.

I don't think I've ever come here with a problem that hasn't been solved by somebody!

I continue to use the sound control on the remote, convenient and handy.
