Phone contract declined.

Hi.

A few days ago, I upgraded my phone. It was credit checked and went through fine.

After receiving the phone, I noticed it had a faulty camera, and also the handset just wasn't what I was looking for. I rang up today and cancelled it (as it was within the 30 days of purchase). They are sending me out an envelope to send the phone back to them. In the meanwhile, I have no phone because my old one has recently stopped working.

I have just tried to take out another phone contract and now I've had an email to say the network has declined it after being credit checked. Can anyone help me?! Why would it have declined when my credit score is fine ...

Because your credit score is a made up number that isn't used in credit checking.

What appears on your three credit files? Did you apply to the same network?
  • Yes I applied to the same network.

Then they may have restrictions on number/frequency of applications, or there may be something on one or more of your credit files that they don't like.

Check your reports from all 3 agencies, why not buy a phone outright, you save yourself alot of hassle.

Because you cancelled your contract within the cooling off period they may have decided they don't want your business. You would have been better phoning them and seeing if it was possible to change the handset rather than leave.
