Commuting Chester to Warrington
Hi all,
I have just moved back to the NW, and have a job interview next week. The role will be based in Birchwood (NE Warrington) and I will be living in Buckley. There is parking on site, but I wondered if anyone drove Chester to Warrington daily and had any comments about the commute.
As a guide for those in the area, I am currently commuting Colwyn Bay to Chester daily and find this fine except on a Friday night. So I am hoping Chester-Warrington daily would not be like a Friday night on the A55.
The route I am looking at is M56 then M6, but any thoughts on route would also be appreciated. Based on what I know about the area so far I am concerned about the M56 around Manchester Airport, and then the M6. From what I can tell, I don't need to drive through the centre of Warrington.

I used to live close to Birchwood and commuted to Frodsham for some time.
You are right M56/M6/Woolston Grange Ave/Birchwood Way is your best route. Most of the time that will be fine.
The only problem is the occasional closure or restriction of the M6 due to accidents. This causes carnage and it spills over into the centre of Warrington but it's a rare occurrence.0 -
I live south of Chester down the A41 and travel to Liverpool each day. There are no problems with the M53/56. Can't comment past that as I come off at Runcorn and go across the Mersey Gateway bridge.0
