Babysitting my 4 year old grandson one night he came downstairs looking quite upset. When I asked what was wrong he told me 'he needed his longings NOW'.

I asked him what he meant a couple of times and he was getting more irate so much so that I had to be very careful to keep my smile hidden.

Having no luck understanding what it was he wanted I instead asked him what he needed his longings for.

Cue hands on hips and a very angry face. 'Im leaving home and I want to put my longings in my bag before mummy and daddy get back'.

He is now working but I still cant resist asking about his 'longings' every now and again.

I have a 3 year old son who has learned a word that starts with "F" and rhymes with "luck" from his teenage sisters.

I was recently carrying him through a restaurant to get to the toilet (toilet training) and he didn't want to go as he was busy playing, so he just start shouting this new word at the top of his voice much to the amusement of the diners!

As parents we try to ignore it but when he gets a laugh from someone it just encourages him, I expect he'll grow out of it by the time he 18 or so.

I was talking to a small boy and his mum at work, mum said they had been out to lunch at a nearby resteraunt. I asked the boy 'what did you have to eat?', he answered 'I did not have to eat it, I choose to eat it because it was nice!'
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"

My OH is bald and has a beard. He worked as a TA in a school nursery. One day a little girl asked him why his face was upside down! She said his hair was at the bottom of his face instead of at the top. Best thing I have ever heard as a teacher is when we had the local police in to do a talk session to the children. I had nursery at the time and when the handcuffs were shown one of the children said to me that her mummy must be in the police as "mummy has handcuffs hidden under her bed"!

The other week I was at my friends who has a 3.5 year old daughter.
Friend slipped down a step and landed on her bottom.
Her daughter screamed "Mummy are you died? - don't died mummy".

Sister now 60yo.....When she was about 4yo my parents were trying to get her to talk with the proper words instead of the west of scotland street slang names for stuff.

Cue a trip to my mothers homeland (Wales). Sister was playing in field attached to house and suddenly started crying. Mum and her family were straight on the case.

What's the matter Hazel? Why are you crying, Come over here and let us see......Sister I have something in my YES ?????? Much head scratching and asking her to repeat through sobs....She was obviously distressed and had got her words wrong - Nope not having any of it my sis repeated louder and louder that she did indeed have something in her YES........
AH said my dad arriving on the scene - She had been told It's not AYE it's YES and not to forget that...lol poor sis had something in her eye.

Second one comes from my niece (Above sisters daughter now in 30's).
She was asking her gran (our mum) about the war and to see old photos ect. As she was looking through the photos ectthat gran had got out for her to see niece then turned seriously to her gran and asked "Gran was the whole world black and white when you were little or was it just in Wales....much to the merriment of my dad and all of us scottish born in the family lol.
  • When he was about 3 my nephew was truly gobsmacked to discover me, my sister and his grandparents were in fact related:

"What? Nanny is mommy's mommy?? And she's your mommy too????" - said with an expression of wide eyed amazement

I went on holiday with my son and grandchildren to Majorca. It was their first time abroad. We explained that due to having fun in the pool, the hot sunshine and maybe staying up late we would have a little sleep in the afternoons and this was called a siesta.
Hereafter my 6 year old GD called it a fiesta

Gosh, too many to count. I actually have a spreadsheet of some of the funniest ones.

"Mummy, when you die, can I have your shoes?" Think my eldest was about 2.

Newsman this morning: "It is hottest between the hours of 11am and 3pm, so it is advised to stay out of the sun during this period."

My 9 year old (learning about birds and bees): "Why do you have to stay out of the sun during your period?"

Because she's only learning, apparently boys have "tentacles." Hehe.

Son (aged 5): Daddy, did you play in the world cup.
Me (a lot older): No. It's only for the best players in the world (and Raheem Sterling)
Son: Don't worry Daddy, I'm sure they'll let you play next time.
