registered vehicle as disabled class (exempt)

hmm can't edit the title that should say registering
Apologies for possibly asking a really simple question but I've made myself dizzy going around in circles of links on the gov.uk website.
How do I register my van as disabled class when the tax isn't currently due? I'm entitled to it (enhanced mobility PIP) and the vehicle is registered to me.
I've been entitled to road tax exemption for years but last actually applied for it probably around the turn of the century as I've had motability cars until recently. I've paid road tax for my van past couple of years, but as it is currently only me using it and reregistering will save a couple of hundred pounds it's worth me getting it re-registered now i think (tax not due until November)
thanks for stopping the endless loop of links!

aha think i found the answer in the end, so a slightly different question, is it just the PIP award letter that's needed as evidence when I go to the post office?

You'll need your PIP award letter and all the other documents too, such as V5, MOT etc. See this link.aha think i found the answer in the end, so a slightly different question, is it just the PIP award letter that's needed as evidence when I go to the post office?
thanks
