Unoccupied building insurance

Hello - hope someone can assist with this please:
I have just bought a farmhouse with an attached separate cottage annexe and another separate building containing two derelict cottages and a storage barn.
All the properties need some degree of refurbishment work, and I will not be living there meantime. None are furnished.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for an insurer who will insure the buildings please?
Thank you.

You'll need to contact a broker.0

You need self build insurance in that case. That is designed to cover buildings while undergoing works to them plus the new works, public and employers liability. Unoccupancy is expected on those policies so that wont be an issue nor will the condition of the property.
Try www.selfbuildinsure.co.uk. They will be able to help.0 -
Thank you. I had already tried them, as I also thought they would be able to help.
Unfortunately, they can't - due to the works not being scheduled to start within 30 days. There is also a "break clause" with their policy whereby the insurance cannot continue if there is a break of 30 days or more in the refurb / rebuilding works.
So.... I am back to square one!0 -
Square one is to talk to an insurance broker with experience of placing vacant buildings in appropriate insurance markets. The specialist markets don't tend to deal directly with members of the public.
https://www.biba.org.uk can recommend a local broker to you, or you you can just Google unoccupied property insurance.0
