I need a mattress topper as well, EH gave some good advice about meals you love and working them in to budget such a good idea that I might try this.

Glad to be of service...!MuffinTops wrote: »Definitely take that idea. EH often has some great advice.
Work is very Meh at the moment still. I'm so pleased to hear you're part time now. I wish I hadn't gone back to full time now too!
Shhhh....they'll all want some! :rotfl:
Beast from the East is being suspiciously quiet here at the moment. We've had the odd flurry of snow and anything that lands other than on roads or pavements is staying put, but nothing like the drama being forecast.

The last time I posted was during the snowy bitter Beast from the East time an now it's a heatwave!!! Time goes by so fast.
I need to remain organised with my finances due to some decisions to make and being here always keep my mind focused.
YNAB is up to date and I've managed to simplify things a bit with all of my accounts. I need to go through the accounts I have and make sure they work for me as well as they've done before. I have the Santander interest account, but now they've increased the monthly fee I don't really feel much benefit.
In other news, I'm going to a craft place for the day on Sunday. It was a gift from the friend who's driving us there way back on my birthday. I'm excited about going and even better that it's already paid for. We've agreed to take a packed lunch so that should keep costs down too.
Lots of birthdays this month though! Ouch!
I hope you're all doing well. I'll catch up on diaries in the next week or so.
Happy Friday!

Hello Rosa,
It's lovely to be back. I am on here regularly but busy catching up on diaries. I'll post a proper update on here very soon.
Off to catch up with you now.

What a shock to start the day with. I decided to put up a quick update and, as it's Wednesday, we needed some dancing girls. However ...... the site I share them from has shut down. Ironically the site name was Pic4Ever but turned out to be Pic4Twelveyears!!! :rotfl:
I've been keeping my account details up to date on YNAB and am happy to report that no fiddling was needed. I have been keeping all personal spends in one personal category, so I've broken that down to know what specific items I'm spending money on.
I spend WAY too much during the work day. I buy breakfast (will replace with porridge packs as we get free milk at work), and then I get lunch too. I often don't have an evening meal, but if I have a long wait at the bus stop on my way home I pop in to Tesco. I'm addicted to Olives and they're not cheap to buy so I need to try to curb this addiction.
Now I'm completely organised again, I'll be able to put plans in place immediately to stop the mindless spending.
After the loss of the can can ladies, I quite like the look of this one.

Hi MuffinTops,
I am going to move this thread to the Debt Free diaries board so you can continue to update us on your progress.
Board guides move threads when they think they will get a better reply or audience elsewhere.
Good luck with your savings

Thanks Westie. I thought that's where I was already! Did I create a thread in a random place??? Oops

I've just read my first post that states that I won't be buying anything non-essential!!! I think I need that tattooed on my spending hand! I've been buying non-essentials, but it's never too late to start from today. I have the weekend free to organise myself, and putting together all the bits and pieces I have indoors will be on the list of chores.
I've overspent a bit on this month's budget, so I'm going to put a few things up on eBay to see if I can claw that money back. It's all stuff I've wanted for a while and definitely will use, but essential??? Not even close!
A while back I also decided to stop moaning about the things I dislike in my life and do something about them and yesterday I pushed forward with a new venture I've been researching for a while. I'm excited to see where that will take me. I still have a major interest in making the lifestyle change I've mentioned before, but I no longer want my home to fit into this wish. I'd like to keep everything separate now and just rent larger places for the duration I need them for. But that's a future project, hopefully in the reasonably near future.
It's all about conquering fear for me. Making huge changes terrifies me, as I know it does everyone. The plus side of being single is that I have no one trying to influence my decision making so I get to do everything as I want to, but the bad side is that there's only me to rely on. Something I think all of us battle with from either side of the coin. I guess I won't actually conquer the fear, but I want to acknowledge it and still move forward. It's all about the planning! Now, where's my planner.
Speaking of which I've started using a traveller's notebook. Tink and I have become real life friends (we've even met up when she and her daughter came to visit!!! :T) and she educated me in the wonders of traveller notebooks. Initially I wasn't keen, but the more pages I was ripping out of my journal the more it made sense, as my traveller notebook is a ring binder. So my journal now contains my general yearly objectives that I can keep at home and update regularly, and my traveller notebook I get to carry around with me as it has the more short term details in there.
I think I've waffled on quite enough for today. Happy Thursday!!!
