Alleged utility debt from 2011 being chased for, ignore?

Ok so the debt is for somewhere I lived but moved out in 2007, the letter claims I used £500 electricity in 4 months in summer 2011, however the discrepancies are.
The house number is correct but not the flat number.
I am a Mr, the account name has MRS.
Im thinking after I moved out some maybe a old letter went there and new tenants opened an account in my name.
Either way its past 6 years (and in Scotland) so Im guessing illegal to even contact me about it!

No, it's not illegal, so no need to worry about that.
If you don't think the debt is yours, dispute it.0 -
The main point was its past the statute barred timescale, that and the letter states they have attempted to contact me, they have never done so but if someone gave them fake details either way they may have, but then the details are correct like having me down as female, supply for 4 years after I moved away.0

I would just check that nothing appears on your credit files.0

So you advised the utility company that you were moving out of the property and provided them with final meter reading/s when you did?0

Nothing does thankfully, neither a default or file at all Im honestly not sure what way to go about it, phone them and then get into a possible argument or ignore it knowing theres nothing that can be done by them.0

I knew someone would say that, and yep I did both!
Why put "so" unless its to imply I didn't!!!
And just came to mind I was with British Gas not Scottish Power, I know its the same company but they are billed seperate so makes me think its identity fraud.0 -

So, it's probably because everyone begins everything with 'so' these days.Ok so the debt is for somewhere I lived0 -

"so" at the start of a sentence given the context easily comes across as negative.
"did you" would not.0 -
Don't ignore it, start off by sending them a 'prove it' letter and take it from there.
EDF (if this is the same company) have sold a batch of old unpaid accounts to Lovell by the way, including 'estimated future usage' bills, which aren't bills at all, and also cover the period after customers have moved out (despite EDF being told and given a final reading).
Remember it's down to the collectors to prove that you owe the debt, it's not down to you to prove that you don't.0 -

Scottish Power, and to think about it every account I had with them since I had my first flat in 2006 has had problems, normally as when on pre pay I top up monthly I was getting letters saying I was in debt which they claimed each time even as recent as 2014 that the standing charge is only taken off at point when credit on a key is inserted which is lies its taken daily.
No other supplier I was with had the same issues, bar one time I transferred and still had credit on and the company after refunding me sent me a bill for the amount they refunded!
Thanks.0
