As Dave says, Gardeners' Delight wins most,
Um...I didn't say that; I said I'd had trouble with GD two years running, which I put down to low night time temperatures in the polytunnel. Other varieties gave no problems and the later GD were OK too.

I do sell a lot of GD, as people recognise the name and the seed is cheap. The F1s are about 30p a seed, so I charge 30p more for them.

Incidentally, I was disqualified when I entered Gardeners' Delight as a cherry tom in a local show, despite the packet saying that's what they are! :(

For some reason I tend to get blossom end rot on my early pickings, then the plants seem to buck up and produce good fruit (which is right around now)

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

We're in East Anglia and have 9 different varieties growing in the greenhouse and have been picking for nearly two weeks.

    oops, sorry Dave, Fake News:o

I think there are some new tom growers who think all cherry toms are small bush plants, and all larger toms are tall plants, which may cause confusion and maybe problems when the small cherry tom takes exceed allotted space

Here's one I tried this year, Indigo Cherry Drops, I bought the T & M seed when it was drastically reduced from £2.99 in end of season clearance sale at garden centre, which is where I often buy my "worth a try at the price" seeds

Not tasted yet, and unsure on the eye appeal, but certainly different. It is a tall cordon BTW

My neighbour is insisting I have some of their black tomatoes. Can't say that image is helping but I'll smile sweetly and thank them before deciding how best to dispose of them!

    Maybe they're Black Russian ?

Either that or extreme blossom end rot (one of my plants went like that but seems to have recovered now)

Well I've got until next year to decide. Looking at scans of old seed packets (I tend to scan them once they're used up to jog my memory) I grew both Sweet Million and Minibel - one of them was really nice, one of them was so-so. Can't remember which...

Our best one is Sungold, good cropper and nicely flavoured. Fed up with Ailsa Craig, forever getting hard back on the fruit. Not sure the reason why but could be down to growing in compost and not in the ground.

Sungold - thanks for the tip

On the Ailsa Craig front - what do you mean by 'hard back' ? I'm generally growing them in Tomorite growbags, and the spares in, well fairly small pots
