The unilateral part you refer to, maybe the buyer didn't realise it was listed as £0.0 Due to his bad eye sight he thought it had said £100 and the fact he was taken through the credit card verification, then he thought this is what it was.

In that case the OP will be admitting they knew the price was not £0 and therefore not valid.

Your legal rights depend on something fairly tricky in the law: whether or not you have a !!!8216;contract!!!8217;.

Depending on the company!!!8217;s terms and conditions, you!!!8217;ll have legal rights (and a contract) either:

once you!!!8217;ve paid for the item
once they!!!8217;ve sent it to you
You!!!8217;ll need to find the company!!!8217;s terms and conditions to find out where you stand. Contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline if you need help. It may be too tricky to work out yourself.

If you have a contract, the company can!!!8217;t usually cancel your order, even if they realise they!!!8217;ve sold you something at the wrong price. They!!!8217;ll only be able to cancel it if it was a genuine and honest mistake on their part that you should!!!8217;ve noticed.

Buy it and see what happens. I reckon you wouldn't get it as they do have things in place to check for in-accuracies at the check out.

Please concentrate on your parenting and not this nonsense...
  • They do not actually have any terms and conditions on their website

But the law allows contracts to be cancelled when there is a clear mistake, so it doesnt matter if their T&C say it or not.
  • The item is supposed to be around £8,500

My mothers favourite soup is carrot and coriander.

Are we just sharing fun facts?
  • Someone asked the value of the item in previous reply.

I think I will do the right thing and let them know, as there are a couple of high value items listed as £0. Who knows maybe they would offer a discount for my honesty.

Thank you for your help & replies everyone, it is much appreciated.

Lesson learned: Just do the right thing else chances are it’ll just come back and bite you on the behind!

    Have a good day everyone!

    Many Thanks,
    Dale

    In that case then....

a.) Yes it is an obvious error so the contract will be void,

    and;

b.) They will definitely pursue you for the item/money.

If it was a small amount then they may write it off as not worth the hassle chasing you, but for thousands they are unlikely to do so!

I just cant picture anyone after 1990 calling their kid Dale.

Just noticed the username, 97 might be a good indicator, fits inline with supermarket sweep. Still, too old for school.
