Samsung S6 public Wi-Fi issues

I have a Samsung S6 which has recently stopped connecting to public Wi-Fi. It's been returned for repair under warranty twice in the last month, but they can't find anything wrong with it.
I've tried setting a different web browser as the default, but I still keep getting the same error page saying that the connection to login page timed out.
I have no issues at all connecting to home Wi-Fi.
Does anyone have any idea what the issue might be, which if any apps might be causing the problem and how to resolve it?
Thanks in advance,
M x

Is the issue linked to GDPR? You have not agreed to the new conditions where they retain data about you and your device?
If it finds your home wifi then the wifi works. If it finds wifi connections then it works. If its not actually connecting to that wifi then its a settings/login issue.
Recently had the option of connecting to a slow free wifi or a paid for enhanced wifi, accidently clicked the paid one and it let me it. Managed a few minutes of net access before it booted me.
Must have synced as they reset it or adding another user and allowed me by mistake? S6 alsoCensorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Try one or two free public WiFi and different web sites .
Samsung would have connected to what you call a public wifi .0 -

Thank you for replying. Could possibly be GDPR but not sure how I can rectify it if I can't load a login page. I've tried "forgetting" connections but it still won't load.

Backup your data and factory reset phone .
That will set security etc to defaults .0 -
Installed an antivirus on your phone, or other security based apps?

I'm using AVG Free, but tried disabling it and then connecting - that didn't work either
