Posting everything tracked

Yet another buyer saying he hasn't received an item. I sent it 2nd class on Tuesday 10/7 - sold on Monday evening 9/7. He asked me to send it straight away as he was going on holiday abroad on Friday 13/7. Opened a case today, without asking me anything. I responded, no reply, it just seems strange that he has done this while on holiday. It's probably sat on his mat as I type!
I think I will send everything tracked from now on. I have proof of postage, but that isn't really worth much. Beginning to think ebay isn't worth the hassle.

Tracked implies special delivery which is going to be horrendously expensive, or do you mean signed for which isn't tracked but gives proof of delivery (most of the time). I'm also assuming this is for large letters as parcels have proof of delivery already, so on a LL your signed for is going to cost £1.10.
So 10 items is going to cost you an additional £11 in RM costs plus £1.10 eBay fees (plus a bit extra for PayPal, so lets say £12.20.
Do you really think you have that many scammers? If so look at what you are selling and why you are attracting so many claims for INR. I would expect around 1 in 300 or so of my LL s to be 'lost' , could your labelling be poor?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi soolin Yes I do have proof of delivery, but as I understand Royal Mail do not compensate the whole amount as I discovered when a camera "didn't turn up" the sale was worth £70 and I got £20 from them. This item was worth £10 so I think I will get 6 x 1st class stamps?0

RM do compensate the full amount (if you are a private seller) if you choose the correct postage - for an item that costs £70 this should have been sent Special Delivery.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

Really? I spoke to customer services at Royal Mail. It cost me £13.72 to send this parcel. Sent all evidence of how much I sold the camera for, and proof of posting, she advised me £20 was all that Royal Mail pay out. I am a private seller.0

£13.72?
£13.75 is for second class parcels 2-5 kg, which has £20 compensation.
If you've paid that much, then you need to check out other carriers. That is WAY too much.0 -

This post confused me a little?
However £20 is the limit for standard mail, if you sent it signed for then the limit would be £50 and special delivery would be higher. If the camera was sent signed for or special and was lost then it Does rather suggest that there may be issues with your labelling , it also, illustrates that it might be futile paying extra to send signed for as that won't win you a PayPal or eBay claim if it doesn't update to show delivered.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Me too.
OP, do you have proof of delivery for the parcel you are referencing in post 1?
Royal Mail compensate up to the value of the item and service you used. Standard first and second is £20 maximum. If your item was more then you will only get £20.
If you've used standard mail for the parcel in post 1 [and if I am understanding correctly] you say it is valued at £10. Therefore, you will get £10 if you have proof of delivery and or proof of posting as long as it is not excluded and you can evidence the item's value.
However this is moot if you have proof of delivery, as with proof of delivery you will win an INR case.0 -
Surely the lesson learned there was to send your parcels with adequate insurance? I'd rather chuck a £70 item in the bin than send it via a standard royal mail method.merrydance wrote: »Hi soolin Yes I do have proof of delivery, but as I understand Royal Mail do not compensate the whole amount as I discovered when a camera "didn't turn up" the sale was worth £70 and I got £20 from them. Yes moneymaker - a lesson learnt - I do label very clearly, check the post code with the details given, many a time I've had to go back to the buyer to get clearer instructions. I always get my husband to read the label to make sure it is clear. Yes I do have proof of posting.0

If you have a printer consider purchasing your postage via ebay. It links the tracking id directly with the ebay item so easier for buyer and seller. you print the ticket out then onto labels of A4 paper and attach to the parcel. then take it to PO for proof of posting if you wish. You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0
