I think the conservatory company may be giving you a certain amount of BS. The problem is that everyone wants a conservatory in the summer and no company wants to turn down work, so people are strung along while the peak in the demand evens out.

This doesn't make the company bad; in fact it's a good sign if they don't sub-contract to every Tom, !!!! & Harry at peak times.

The main thing is that you know real people who are satisfied with this firm's work, because all the Trustpilots in the world wouldn't convince me, compared with that. I had a 5 star Trustpilot firm with 40 years in the business and they still messed-up. Messing-up is very common indeed in the conservatory business. Despite what I said earlier, most work doesn't involve building regs or building control officers, so the majority of it is totally unregulated.

A typical scenario is this... Conservatory companies are only interested in erecting conservatories and filling in time slots by also fitting windows. When it comes to doing real work, which requires physical effort then the work gets sub contracted. This applies to groundworks.

Your delay is likely because the subby allocated for your work is too busy. Then because they are a subby the conservatory company has limited control over them. Plus the conservatory company want to make money out of the subby - basically an extra profit on the job. If the subby has more pressing, or more profitable, work elsewhere then you will be left waiting.

A genuine, upfront, company would have explained all this, and more, to you when talking about the job. They would also have explained their likely lack of knowledge on groundworks. You would be wise to counter this by doing your own inspection of the work here!

If all my reasoning applies then you should be a little concerned. All this indicates that the company with rave reviews is not quite as brilliant as you think!
