I've just found two tins of meat, probably from last years christmas hamper
& they are going out of date on Tuesday.
I have no idea what to make with them, I dont really fancy it in a sandwich, anyone have any ideas?
I have plenty of things in the cupboard/freezer that I can use with them, but dont know what would work?
They are small tims, on is Ye Olde Oak chopped ham & pork & the other is chicken & ham roll.
Thank you.
Carrie

When I was younger my grandma always used to buy these sort of tins - hang-up from the rationing I think
Anyway... from what I remember it is very nice sliced and battered, like a burger. So you could serve it with wedges, salad and crusty bread.Mink2 -
And don't worry about them going out of date suddenly, next week. This is a precaution and legal requirement by the company. they'll be fine to keep in the cupboard if you don't fancy them all within 2 days.
I also agree with mink - very nice fried and not at all fattening if you get someone else to make it3 -
You could cut them into small cubes and use in an omelette.
Or make them into sandwiches - then put in ovenproof dish - pour a couple of beaten eggs and grated cheese over them - bake in med oven for 20 mins or till golden colour."This site is addictive!"

The ham would be nice cut into small bits and used in a quiche instead of bacon.
The chicken and ham, cubed, in a pie with mushrooms, onions and peppers with white sauce.37 mrstwins squares, 6 little bags, 16 RWB squares, 1 ladies cardi, 4 boobs, 20 baby hats, 4 xmas stockings, 1 scarf, 4 prs wristwarmers1 -
Just slice them up with salad, pickles and chips - that's what I'd do. Or have in bread rolls with a bit of thin sliced onion and maybe a lettuce leaf/cucumber slices.
If you don't want 'em, I'll have 'em.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I used to use tinned meat cut into chunks in a white sauce with sweetcorn and poured over pasta - very yum.Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0

Wow! So many replies, thank you.
there's some great ideas, I didnt even consider a quiche, I think I'll do that tomorrow.
still not sure what to do with the other tin, the sarnies in the overn with egg & cheese sound delish, i've never had anything like that.
Thank you everyone, you are all so helpful :T0 -
The ham could be used in a leek and ham pie. Fry the leek gently until soft, add the ham and a thickish white sauce, top with shortcrust pastry.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
