Have a read of this webpage:

    https://www.theecoexperts.co.uk/solar-panels/government-grants-free

FWiW, I have looked at PV Solar for a new build. If I could buy a 4kWp system for £5K and I used 50% of the energy generated (that is often a challenge as there is only so much washing that can be done etc), then energy saving, FIT and export payments would make me about £500 a year (excluding the interest loss on the capital investment). It follows that I would be looking at 10 years to pay off the capital cost. By then, I might need a replacement inverter.

I suspect that by signing up to one of these webpages, you can expect to get the hard sell.

Went to the Solarpanelfunding link and filled in some details to get a reply.

Someone has just contacted me and basically starting talking out of his backside checking to confirm funding was available in my area.

The funding is the government feed in tariff and export payments. In my area the only company with "Available Funding" was Project Solar.

He wanted to book a survey and insisted that as my house is jointly owed by myself and my wife that she had to be here for the survey. I asked if the expected me to buy anything on the survey and they said no. I then asked why does my wife have to be here. Project Solar insist on all owners to be present on the survey.

There are many threads on Project Solar on this Forum so you can see how bad they are.

As Hengus has said you will get the hard sell.

If you want to get Solar PV then I would suggest that you get 3 or 4 quotes and bring the information to the Green & Ethical MoneySaving board. You will get lots of advice from people who have been through the process and have lots of knowledge.

Anyone that wants money up front for a survey should be avoided. You could also do some homework about Solar PV.
