Would this qualify as 1 years no claims?

I had a crash in may 18 that is likely to go 50/50. So i will loose my no claims. My insurance is due for renewal in march. So if i stay with my current insurer until 1 year after my crash .. will i be apply to apply 1 years no claims to my new insurance? Will it be valid. £1000 difference in price

No. You would need to wait until you have had one year since you last renewal to get a year of no claims. It doesn't work on calendar years. If you cancel a policy part way through the year you will not get any NCD for it as you won't have completed the year.0

You normally lose 2 years NCD following a fault claim and no NCD is awarded for the policy year in which the claim was made
So if you have now no NCD, then you won't be getting any NCD until you next complete a policy year without any claims
From what you say you won't have any NCD till you renew in March, 2020, assuming the policy year from MArch 2019 to MArch 2020 is claim free0 -
