Non fault claim

On Sunday I was ploughed into by an elderly driver who thought you could right from the left lane at a roundabout-even though the road markings were clearly marked left or straight-on.
Will my insurance premium rise by much?

Maybe - ask your insurance company at renewal time - or wait for the renewal notice.0 -
Probably. I was hit by a driver from the rear whilst I was stationary. Totally his fault and agreed that way by insurance, still went up almost £300.0

Crazy that.
I asked him if he is accepting liability and understood what he did wrong. He argued that you can turn right at the left-lane at roundabouts and thought I'd see him signalling left, Jeezo.
You can turn right at some roundabouts, not this one. He sped up and cut into my lane, you can see his damn tyre tracks across the lanes.
Luckily I took pictures of everything, damage to the cars, the lanes of the roundabout etc.Maybe - ask your insurance company at renewal time - or wait for the renewal notice.
So this wont affect it straight away? My monthly payments wont go up?0 -
You pay for insurance yearly (in one lump sum or spread across monthly payments). Your insurance premium would only change mid term if you change car or other details on your policy such as where you live. Adjustments for incidents will happen at renewal.SomethingAboutMoney wrote: »So this wont affect it straight away? My monthly payments wont go up?0 -
Always a danger without witnesses that they go 50/50
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Yep. If the chap was adamant he could turn right there's a good chance he'll deny liability and this is how it will end up. His argument will presumably be that the OP changed lanes (to exit the roundabout correctly) without checking the outside was clear.Always a danger without witnesses that they go 50/500 -
OP, don!!!8217;t be so confident that this isn!!!8217;t a non fault claim. A lot of claims like this go down the split liability route.0

Thanks for the positive words!
I'm not worried, you can clearly see the skid marks from his lane into mine, I've got it on picture and video! I've also got lots of pictures of the area and damage to his car and mine.
He never even took my details and when I said I'm not sure if I will be able to drive away he didn't seem too bothered.
No apology or nothing, what a horrible person.
Also he wasn't fully aware of what the hell was going on.
A quick test of his awareness and his license is gone.
I won't be heartbroken if that happens, I'd hate to see him do it to someone else.0 -
If you genuinely think he is unfit you should report this to the DVLA0
-
Don't know about the "awareness" thing. If reported I'd guess he may have to take a driving assessment.
IMHO, it wouldn't be a bad idea if everyone did every few years!
Sounds like it might also be a complete lack of understanding of the rules of the road.
Same as half the people you come across.
Good luck OP. Hope you get it sorted OK.0
