I've just received the M&S credit card. Does anyone know how the 2000 bonus point offer works? Maybe you've received it already.

Read through the terms. It seems quite straightforward. it say's you must be opted in to M&S loyalty Scheme. Pretty sure I opted in when I applied for credit card.

Should I call them and ask before making first purchase?

How quickly/slowly were your points credited after the first purchase? Does it make a difference to how quickly/slowly the points are credited if the first purchase is made online or in store?

Also, when does the 90 day period for the first purchase start from?. I applied on 28 April 2018. Account approved on 04 May 2018.

Take it it starts from 04 May 2018?

I didn't have to specifically opt in. I spent on the card and the 2000 bonus points appeared relatively quickly.

Getting the actual £20 in vouchers, however, is glacially slow. They only convert the points into vouchers something like every three months, and if you join at the wrong time in their cycle (as I did) you could be waiting something like six months for them.

I wasn't best pleased with this to say the least and it rather puts me off using them for actual credit (as does their shoddy online servicing).

I received the M&S gift card beginning of September. Checked the balance and it said £100.00. All good.

Up until last week or so I had about 2500 points showing on online banking (2000 points for credit card sign-up + around 500 points I had accumulated). Yesterday, received text message from M&S saying 'just to let you know that we've topped up your M&S gift card. Happy Shopping!'.

Today, when I check the card balance it say's £110. Surely it should be around £125 (£100 + £25). What's going on?

Isn't the £110 for opening a current account? (£100 on opening and £5 a month for 12 months)

The 2000 bonus points is for opening a credit card and a voucher will be sent separately.

This makes sense. M&S will probably send a voucher after converting the points total (in my case it was nearly 2700) in to pounds. So, nearly £27.

The points total is shown on my credit card statement and also through online banking (easy to keep track).

I believe the offer (for existing M&S Credit card customers) that was ongoing when I opened the current account was the £100 for opening account, then £10 top-up each month when you satisfy the current account conditions ( £1000 pay-in and 2x direct debits each month) offer. It was called the '£220 gift card when you switch and stay' offer. This offer may have changed now.

Both sets of vouchers sent to me in November 2018 and February 2019 were lost/stolen in the post.

I actually contacted M&S support on 28 November 2018, and they send me the voucher numbers through online messaging on 02 Dec 2018. The expiry date was 29/02/2020. Come June 2019, I contacted m&S bank to tell them I still haven't received the paper vouchers through post.

They said they've already been used. Turns out on the 01 Dec 2018. So even if I had attempted to use them online it wouldn't have worked (as they only sent me voucher numbers electronically on 02 Dec). Funny how they send the voucher numbers electronically when you contact them. It's as it they are aware that the vouchers are lifted in the post, so to beat the culprits cashing in on them, they send the customer the numbers electronically in the hope that the customer will spend them before the light fingered bandits. In other words, they practice the age old M&S tactic if something ain't working 'keep repeating the same and expect a different result'.

I've contacted M&S bank, Royal Mail and The police (I assume they have a team working around the clock on this ;)). Asked M&S bank if they can just provide me the latest quarter (august 2019) voucher numbers electronically only. They are saying it will arrive in the post. If it's not received, to contact them and they will issue the voucher numbers electronically. Isn't this the same as what happened last time?

Why keep repeating this?. If two sets of vouchers have already gone in some unscrupulous royal mail staff member's pocket. Surely the next set will also go in their pocket.

How come they don't just top-up the gift card (as they do monthly for the switch incentive)?...how come they use a gift card AND vouchers?

I assume the next vouchers can be expected in August then.

Depends. More than likely expected in a light-fingered person's pocket.
