The same as they would pay if it wasn't a smart meter. Make sure that YOU take the meter readings. Just because it may be a smart meter doesn't actually mean that the supplier is receiving the readings. You need to be sure you have them so that you can give them to the supplier.

You have asked a question that is impossible to answer as no two houses or households are the same. Some houses have good insulation: others do not. Some heat by gas: others heat by electric. The £ sign that you will see on your IHD is based on 3 things: your tariff; your postcode and how many items you have switched on at any given time. You cannot change your postcode but you can check that you are on the cheapest tariff and you can turn things off.

These are the typical domestic consumption values produced by Ofgem:

Via a forum unrelated to energy or money matters, I came across something severely concerning of smart meter accuracy, It suggests that some can over read by 500%.
    Here are some lnks

AFAIK there's no reason that a smart meter should be any more or less accurate than a similar non-smart electronic watt hour meter.

I guess that an electronic meter whether smart or not may be more sensitive or responsive than one of the old electro-mechanical whizzing disk meters but they all have to be made and tested to a certain specified accuracy.

I've got a smart meter and since I got it my yearly usage for electricity has been less than my yearly usage before I got it and that is using nearly 27 years worth of readings.

Average yearly usage from 1991 to 2016 was 3737 kWh and from then until now it is 3209 kWh.

So is my smart meter reading less than my old dumb meters or is it more accurate and my old meters were reading more?

Have you replaced any electrical items in the past few years?
Like lights/tv/fridge/cooker/heater/computer/shower etc? If so it is probably a lot more energy efficient.
Or have you changed your life style so watch less power guzzling TV for example.
If you have not changed a single thing then it maybe due to meter inaccuracies, but could the new smart one be the one measuring incorrectly?

Very biased question that in favour of smart meters, it could be less accurate but still reading in your favour

As most of the smart meters appear to be cheap carp, I would suspect it is more likely to be that which is inaccurate. However as Gaz & Leccy's advert says that smart meters will save us 2% on average I would just assume you are above average.

As an aside - it is impossible for my size 7 hands to obtain a pinch of salt big enough to deal with a Gaz & Leccy advert.
