Highview parking Borehamwood - charge notice for overstaying

My partner got this notice as a car keeper and rushed to name me as a driver. The charge is for staying 3h34m when 3h are allowed. The car park belongs to Borehamwood shopping area (multiple shops) and is camera operated. The pictures show the car entering and leaving the road leading to the parking spaces.
Considering that this happened on 16 June I am not able to confirm that it was me driving or how long we stayed, though it is probable that lunch and shopping took that long on a weekend. The parking itself consists of multiple areas and if I parked on that day it was in the small area just on the right from the roundabout at the entrance, which also has several places for the doctors (surgery is closed on weekends). At the roundabout there is a sign saying something about entering a private land, however there is no signage with terms of parking in the area where the car was (most probably) left. Also I can't recall if the car was just left there all the time or I drove out and came back to collect (which could contravene No Return Within ... clause).
My question is if to attempt a defensive action. The only option seems to start an appeal through the company site referring to an ambiguous signage, though it is likely to be rejected (in line with company's usual practice). Thanks for any opinion or experience shared.

What was the reason for the PCN? What did your partner put in the initial appeal?
Have the scammers responded to the appeal?

What happened when you complained to the managers of the places you visited?

Thanks to everyone who responded. The reason for PCN was allegedly overstaying the 3 hours limit. My partner diverted Highview to deal with me without lodging any appeal, just told them I was the driver. Shop managers are elusive and unlikely to be helpful even if located. I've read all relevant posts and rules before posting mine, my question is basically about an appeal standing any chance in my situation.

Send the appeal template exactly as it is. If they realise you are the driver, nothing lost. If they don't realise it, then it will probably be cancelled at the first attempt.

If the appeal is rejected then you will win at PoPLA.

How did your partner dob you in, by phone or in writing?

You should always try a landowner/manager cancellation first.

Appeal was responded to by email on the next day: "Notice has subsequently been cancelled in full and no further action will be taken".
    Unbelievable! Thanks, guys!

    Hope this is final.

On a side note (if anyone uses Borehamwood parking) - I went to take pictures and the area allocated for the surgery (which is closed on weekends) does not have any restrictive signage. Open to interpretation.
