Hi,
My first post on here so please be gentle with me!
I was mis sold PPI by Nationwide some years ago where I was physically told at the branch that if I didn't tick the PPI box then I would not get the loan / credit card, Nationwide dismissed this saying "it was my decision to tick the box so therefore it was not mis sold!" I took it all the way to the ombudsman who confirmed as I had checked the box they had to side with Nationwide even though I was self employed for much of the period the loan / credit card covered, ok so I have to accept they ripped me off and got away with it!
When the Plevin ruling came out I went back to Nationwide who dismissed my claim saying it had already been dealt with by the ombudsman therefore I have no claim and I could not go back to the ombudsman because my case was closed, my claim would amount to well over £10.000 pounds so you can understand why they were determined not to pay out! Any suggestions please?
Roger

It sounds as if you either told them you wanted to make a claim, or you made another mis selling complaint.
Did you specifically mention Plevin?0 -
Hi, yes I made it perfectly clear to Nationwide that the new claim relates only to Plevin0
-
Hi, no the original claim would have been well in excess of £10.000 not the Plevin claim0

Plevin is not simply an opportunity to re-state your original complaint, I'm afraid.
There is no way a Plevin Refund (of commission) would amount to £10K.
You should write again stating that you want clarity on any undisclosed commission, not on the status of your mis-selling complaint which will remain rejected.
Note that if you paid off your mortgage prior to 2008, you won't be able to complain under Plevin anyhow.0 -
Thank you again, my claim was not in relation to a mortgage but was a credit card and a loan, where I was confused is that Nationwide refused to even acknowledge Plevin despite my letter making it perfectly clear that this was all I was now asking them to look at0

Most plevin refunds are several hundred pounds. There have been some that have done into a few thousand but they are not as common. It is highly unlikely that a plevin payout would be over £10k.
Plevin is also fairly open and shut on criteria. If you dont qualify, you dont get anything.
What reason did they get for saying you did not qualify under Plevin?
Was it because the debts were repaid prior to 2008?
If it was mortgage, was it because it was not under the consumer credit act?even though I was self employed for much of the period the loan / credit card covered, ok so I have to accept they ripped me off and got away with it!
Most PPI does cover the self employed. It is only a significant minority that does not. So, if yours did, then that excuse reason is not going to work.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
