I really hope there is a solution to this!
In this house there are 2 comps, off one router, both wireless. Whenever the downstairs comp is downloading the upstairs one goes so slow it either cuts out or hangs totally. it took 18 attempts to get into msn tonight and i have had enough tbh. No i havent got any spyware or adware. upon looking at the router http page which is accessible from my comp, it does not even list the pther computer as i wanted to see how much internet it was effectively 'nicking' from mine-this is no good, the only way i have got on here now to type this is by going downstairs and pausing the downloading while the other person isnt looking!!!
can i manually tell the router how to split the signal so we both get fair usage? or at least an option from my computer to cut off the others signal when im at the end of my blee**n tether!!!! thanks
By the way, i pay the bill so i think im within my rights to cut off theirs every so often if i cant even load a normal webpage:mad:

Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.

afaik the belkin does not allow you to allocate bandwith for each lan port.
a buffalo router does allow it.
cisco routers do it too, but are expensive.
you can do it by using your puter as a gateway, (then the router). and then control usage by software.Get some gorm.0 -
dont think it would be the router, i have the same belkin one, running a laptop, 2 desktops and the x-box 360 all running wirelessly (if thats a word) no probs at all. All in use at the same time, x-box playing a game, 2 kids on msn etc, and the other half gaming on the laptop. Have no problems with downloads or lagging on the games.0

Yebbut you've not got someone downloading at full tilt have you?0

The other person is more than likely up/downloading torrents .
Your going to have to tell them to go into the program they are running and control the available bandwidth ..some of this stuff installs witha default setting of unlimmited or as much as possible .Take the settings down much further ,see if this helps .0
