    Thanks for clarifying that, I'd assumed it was HMRC that did both.

    HMRC does but different departments, different systems, different staff. For all we know her name could be on a list waiting to be checked.

    What is my best course of action? If anyone checks it's obvious I was living at the address but the claim was unknown to me, just don;t want to be dragged into it.

    Ive already said, it has no impact on you as you weren't the one claiming. You could report her though.
