Council Tax refund - and a bit more from the Valuation Office!

Thanks, Martin, for providing me with the guidance to reclaim overpaid Council Tax to the tune of almost £2,600. AND IT DOESN'T STOP THERE..... As I'd been overpaying for more than 13 years, I asked my Local Authority for an additional amount to reflect the interest they'd earned on my money! They referred me to the Valuation Office, who were responsible for the original 'mistake' and after some persistence, I received a further payment of £460. So if there's anyone else out there who was overcharged their Council Tax for a long period, I'd suggest you take up the issue of interest with the Valuation Office. As in my case, they'll almost certainly tell you that "it isn't policy to pay interest" (well, they would, wouldn't they?!), but stick to your guns and you should receive what you're morally entitled to. Good luck! Kim
