Do you in fact have soakaways ?

Some years ago we had foul flooding uphill from our property and had out an 'exert', who had contracts with some largish local companies.

They dug down between our house and garage.so the pipe was exposed and accessible, declaring that we needed a manhole installed at some £300+ (a lot in those days),as we collected the sewage from the two houses uphill from us.

My father had worked for the company that built the estate and was convinced we didn't have soakaways. The builders (Seddon) no longer had the plans, but said soakaways were unlikely going by company history.

Dad borrowed some drain rods and measured how far they fitted uphill and found they stopped mid next door's drive and the problem was traced to some building work done ,where the workmen had thrown rubble into the pipework, when installing a new toilet.
