Actions needed after buying a used car

If the car has full Skoda service history I would be tempted to keep this up or at least find out how much more it would be rather than using an independent.
Could help with a bit of goodwill from Skoda in the event of an expensive breakdown (nothing guaranteed though!)0 -
find a decent local VAG specialist, not a main dealer.
Dont use the likes of ClickMechanic
Look at BRISKODA website for guidance on all things skoda
Enjoy your new car and if there is evidence of a recent service then dont get it done till the next scheduled one otherwise you are spending what you dont need to.0 -
No point in getting a major service done if it's got full main dealer history. Do the sensible checks especially tyres. For some reason people never check the tyres are ok.
Personally (others will disagree) but don't skimp on tyres. I tend to get rid of ditch finders if I buy a car with them on.
Depends on the previous owner, they could have been told it needs a belt and other work but the owner could have said no just do the oil and filters for now.
A stamp in a book is not a record of what work was done. The stamp wont show the belt was changed or not. Sometimes they write it in the book but mostly they just stamp it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I would class checking the belt had been done as a sensible check but there again it does assume people have some basic mechanical knowledge.0
