Want to buy a giftcard as a gift for someone to visit an attraction - Don't, give them the cash instead, or even a prepaid creditcard.
We received a giftcard For Crealy. Went on the website, saw the prices and tried to book in advance - except you cant. The giftcard can't be used online and so you can only use it at the gates. you also can't use it by phone which the terms don't show.
For a family of 3 adults and 2 children you can purchase online for £60 up to midnight the night before. Outside of this 'worldcup offer' there is at least 20% discount on the site by booking the night before.
Go in on the day and the price is £100!.
Its the same with Legoland - A friends parent bought them a giftcard for his family to visit lego land. It should have cost him £150 to visit using the website, Except again the card can't be used online or with any promotional discount such as off a cereal box and so the actual cost of entry on the day was closer to £300.
The only people getting ripped of are the kind hearted persons buying the gift cards as presents in the first place. It would cost them half as much if they just handed over cash, and attractions are taking advantage of those that want to hand over a tangible gift.
