Help required with ESTA application

Options
Hoping someone can advise please. Ive been to the USA before and last time had to complete the ESTA application.

This time it asks for information that I dont remember having to fill in last time however it may just be bad memory.

My query is regarding the part which asks for Parent Names.

It asks for 'Family Name' and 'First Name' for both parents.

Am I right in assuming that the family name for my father is his surname and that the family name for my mother will be her 'maiden' name from before my parents married?

Yes, 'family name' is what's referred to as 'surname' in Britain.

Your mother's family name would be the one she is currently using, if her maiden name is not specifically asked for (?).

Thanks. Was just a bit confused as both parents are deceased and I have married twice so have a completely different surname.
