Who pays the refund?

Hi. I recently booked a holiday apartment through Expedia. 1 week before the holiday the vendor cancelled on us and said they would process our refund. Over 3 weeks later I still haven’t received the refund and Expedia are not very helpful. As it was booked through Expedia- should they refund me and chase the vendor themselves? How can I ensure I receive the money I am owed? I paid via debit card and the money left my account at the original time of purchase.

Have you read the terms and conditions to see who your contract was with and what they say about cancellation? They should have clauses both for you cancelling and also if they have to cancel too. I'd expect their cancellation clauses to detail who will refund you.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

How did you pay?
Did you pay Expedia or the hotel/apartment owner? You should check on your bank statement because sometimes Expedia collect the funds, sometimes the hotel does.
You should then chase whomever collected the funds. I would also check your travel insurance docs to see what happens in this situation (assuming you have such a policy).0
