Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Nelski - you mum reminds me of my late Mother. She would ring me up at some ungodly hour and tell me she was dying and no one could get in the doors were locked. I lived 30 miles away, struggled into clothes and set off breaking all speed limits, would get there to find her on the door step asking me what took me so long!! She had no compassion what so ever, there was only one person in the world and that was her. Its a very long story, but it bounced on her in the end.
I wish someone would send us some of that rain. after several cool mornings and brighter afternoons we are back to stonking sun this morning. I am staying well out of it. I guess OH is only going to be in the garden for a short while. The garden is so dry I can get my hand in the cracks. We are just watering the veg and the pots now, the herbaceous border is having to take its chance. If it does rain the water will likely run off as the ground is so hard.
We have picked vast amounts of fruit this year which is now in the freezer apart from the strawberries and raspberries we have eaten or given away.
I slept very heavily last night for some reason, feel like a wrung out dish rag this morning, so will be taking it easy and drinking water.
Gammon ham and eggs tonight, probably more raspberries with some ice cream for dessert.0 -
Morning all,
I might have slept straight through but Grump was restless and kept me awake. He was hot, then he was cold...which kept me awake.
Good to see him doing the stuff in the house thats needed doing for so long. I want to make changes here and there but am meeting resistance all the way. Not because of cost or because he has to do it but because he hates change.
Not planning on food shopping today, I want to run down my freezer as he's wanting to go away at some point. Barbies jeep is in for service and tyre change on Wednesday so it will be after that.
Onwards and forwards
Have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning all
Bright lovely day here again, I have a dark wash load on the go and a towel load to go in after, it should all dry quickly today.
OH and I have to go and look at slabs today for the patio ( we cant settle on one between us, The ones I love he hates and vice versa !) so we need to find one and make a firm decision today !!
We need to go and do a shop too but cant go to our normal Aldi as its Festival of speed here this weekend so the local roads are all grid locked so we will head the other way.
When we get back we have to cut the back hedge next door did there half the other day and its making ours look bad !!
DD and boyf are about to exchange contracts on their house so will be moving soon, I shall be glad to get all the stuff out of my house that they have stored and collected.
Right best get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning lovelies
Didn't sleep much last night as I had restless legs, so was doing the hokey cokey with the bedclothes. Judi I'm afraid I was echoing Grump, hot-cold, hot -cold, rinse and repeat, but Mr Fix It slept soundly. He could sleep through a world war . Eventually I dropped off about 6am and was then up at 9, so I am hanging already.
I had a phone call from Joan last night, she was sobbing and wanted to live with us, as she was frightened to be alone. I had to promise that if she banged 3 times on the wall then I would send the bouncer (Mr Fix It ) round. It's no wonder I'm having trouble sleeping as I am keeping one ear open for her too.
We had more overflow problems last night, it appears that the water board is having troubles further up the valley. The pressure is up and down like the buses and then they turned the water off and back on a couple of times, so Mr Fix It has been to b&q early this morning and has now changed the flow valve in our tank. I hope it's done the trick. It's a good job we are not on a water meter . I don't know what I would do without him, he's a gem :A.
I have already stripped the bed and put it in the WM, the bedding not the bed :rotfl:. Should dry outside although it's a bit overcast here and there is still no sign of rain:(. Who would have ever thought that I would be jealous of places where it rained yesterday.
I did manage to do the store cupboard check and update the database yesterday, but not the freezers, so that is to be done today. ( says she hopefully) After that it's clean the bedroom and remake the bed. Anything else done will be a bonus. Tea tonight will be something from the freezer . As always there is plenty to choose from, but we need to eat through what we have and not buy more
.
Nelski sorry about your Mum, but you made me chuckle. Love the 4th emergency service :rotfl:.
Holly I was up when you posted this morning but I didn't have the energy to post that early. Thank you for starting us off.
RedRuby hope you get "slabgate" sorted today.
Anyway I'm going to have another coffee, peg out the washing and then get started on the freezer checks. I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday, whatever you are doing. Take care and hugs to all.

No sleep for me again.
We retired to bed fairly sharp, as we knew Benji would be arriving at 10:00 this morning; but about 01:30, Mr LW woke me up yelling in his sleep "Watch out, Rosemary!" and that was that, I couldn't sleep after that. He says he has no recollection of dreaming at all.
Oh, btw, worry not, Rosemary was his sister, the one who passed away in 2010.
I've once again decanted the bathwater onto the garden - this time limiting myself to 8 jugfuls in the watering can instead of almost filling it. It took more journeys of course, but less strain on my poor arms. Still no rain here.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I have just shampoo the hall carpet, it looks a lot better though it is very old and worn and can't do much about that. It was hot work though my OH very kindly plugged the vax in for me while reading the paper, that was a huge help ahem.
I am just sitting down for a minute and then will have a shower, am not a clean person at the moment.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Afternoon everybody,
Another lovely warm sunny day today......picked the ripe tomatoes from the greenhouse and almost melted while doing it. My courgettes are dying as soon as they reach a couple of inches, in spite of the fact that they get all the spare water.
DD2 and her girls gone to London for a week, so the house will be quiet but I shall miss them.
Nelski.....I think that selfishness is part of old age for some, I remember my late father not seeming to care who he disturbed at night in his final years, something he would never have done earlier.
Hugs to all who are ill, worried about others, or finding it difficult to sleep.
Love to all,

Is there any way you could syphon the water from your bath,we do. One hold the hose to make sure it stays in the water. We fill a clean empty dustbin. A lot easier than carrying. If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -

And by the time we'd faffed around getting something set up, bearing in mind we'd have to work around the bath-lift, I can have the bath emptied via the can.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
