Old Style Daily Saturday 14th July 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

It turned out to be a lovely day here yesterday, by lunchtime the cloud had gone and we had we had sunshine for the rest of the day. The forecast had been for possible storms but they didn’t materialise and we didn’t have any of the rain some of you further north had, although we could do with some. The weather is supposed to be hot this weekend as well so I shall go out and about as usual.

There is a small amount of clearing up that needs doing this morning and I need to send a couple of emails, other than that, there is nothing pressing.

My brother invited me over for the weekend but I have suggested we postpone that for a couple of weeks because of the football and Wimbledon finals on Saturday and Sunday. As my nephew and sister in law are both really into tennis and football I am worried that I would be in the way a bit. I can always go another time.

As the weather is back to sunshine I think it will be something with a salad for dinner, and some cheesecake for dessert.

AOD, TA, Judi and the others who have trouble sleeping, I hope that you have had a better night.

I hope that your mum is continuing to improve and has settled back at home Gers.

Silver-oldie ((hugs)) it must be really difficult for you to see your mum how she is now.

Camelot I hope that they took the conservatory down carefully and it was ok, and that it was collected yesterday evening.

Hope you had a good time at the races Lainey, and that you backed a winner or two :).

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning and another day of sun, according to the weatherman. Like Holly, we were warned to expect storms, torrents of rain and localised flooding so we got 10 minutes of mild drizzle. I am not complaining about the lovely sunshine but we could do with a real shower, just to clean things up and to freshen the air.

Thank you Holly I went back to bed yesterday morning, and although I decided to stay up and watch a film with my family, when I went to bed, I slept well for 5 hours, not bad going for me.

My new vacuum arrived yesterday, it is also a carpet washer. I preferred not to have 2 machines. I will make a start on the cleanathon later. I didn't do any housework other than a bit of laundry yesterday, not enough energy.

Thinking of those who are unwell or worried about others.

Hooe everyone has a decent day.

    Morning hello.gif

It started to rain on thursday evening then stopped a couple of minutes later. We were warned about storms too, we had some rain and thunder yesterday afternoon but it didn't last long, then it poured down early evening. Bliss! It's nice and cool at the moment, I hope it stays like this all day.

The hot weather left me feeling drained but today I've woken up full of energy. I don't actually have much to do around the house, later on I'll probably be complaining that I'm bored :D But it'll be nice for Scampi to go in the garden when he feels like it, rather than be trapped indoors. I can enjoy my chocolate without it melting. My blanket can sit on my lap while I work on it. I can hoover without feeling like I need a shower and a lie-down afterwards :rotfl:

  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. We are back to sunshine this morning after last night's much needed rain. The rain of monsoon proportions lasted about 3 minutes, followed by a steady downfall lasting all of 5 minutes. I don't think it went on long enough to get really deep down into the soil sadly but better than nothing!

We ended up with another lodger last night - middle DGD this time. DD and girls had planned to go to the caravan after school for the w/e then "Margot's" dance teacher decided those who were doing the tap exam on Tuesday might benefit from more practice time! She honestly thinks there is no life beyond dance that woman! So DGD stayed with us and is getting picked up mid morning to go practicing and then onwards to the caravan afterwards.

Not a lot planned for today but I must strip the bed when Mr TA vacates it and get that lot washed and pegged out. I suspect there may be some football watching this afternoon but it's not as exciting when just 3rd place is at stake.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. A lot of sadness and worry on here these days. SILVER-OLDIE I know how you must feel. I went through years of thinking why do I bother with my own mum. Despite all I did for her it was never enough. Take care all xx

    Morning

Went to bed early again last night..9pm and fell asleep quickly until 9.30pm when mum phoned to tell me she had broken her blind in the bathroom. It wasn't the kind of normal conversation call it was a "what you going to do about it" one....mmmm let me just ring 999 and ask for the 4th emergency service bathroom blind repair. I told her she had woken me up and she told me I shouldn't go to bed so early :rotfl: sorry you're right I need to be on constant mum call.

Anyway struggled to get back to sleep then so it was telly and a late one.

The rain gave everything a really good soaking yesterday and the air seems so much fresher today but it is nice to see the blue sky and sun back this morning. Plans are to continue with my housey to do list. Befriending call this morning and I have a delivery to sort out. Other than that sleepy day planned then its off to my fav Indian again for dinner with the girls. I can feel a tandoori mixed grill will be the choice :o

AOD enjoy your new vacuum bet your house will be all sparkly by the end of the day

    Have a smiley Saturday everyone

Thank you Nelski - it won't all be sparkling! The reason I decided to get a new V*x was so that I could clean the carpets in my own time rather than hiring a rug doctor and needing to do everything in a short rental period. So I will do some today, the hall is the worst, then carry on, sitting room is the next worst. The lower stairs need doing but the second flight and bedrooms don't get the same traffic and will get a freshen up when I can be bothered. .

Has your mum not heard of the Blind Fairy? She is able to call in at any hour of the day or night, wave her wand and fix it by magic. And she hasn't had surgery recently either.

    Really Nelski?

It's nice and fresh out, we didn't have any rain, in fact it was a lovely warm, sunny day. I have a white wash in at the moment then the bedding to do, I'll give the mattress protector a freshen up too.

The builders demolished the conservatory yesterday, makes the fairly small garden look huge and there is so much more light in the kitchen. The area where it came down is a bit of a mess but I'm sure someone who knows what they're doing with slabs can make it look good! The chap who was coming to collect the dismantled bits messaged to say he couldn't come until 9.30, told him to wait until this morning, let's hope he turns up or I'll be ordering another skip!

I hope your DM is continuing to improve Gers.

Have a happy weekend, take care. XX

    Morning everyone.

DM is on the mend, she's back to her grumpy / bossy ways which are so annoying! I think my worrying about her will change to being frustrated with her. I plan to go home tomorrow for one night to check on my place, cart my post out of the barn and water the garden.

Yesterday was spent sorting out the drugs into little compartments. DM's GP phoned to organise the online repeat meds system as she's off on her hols. She wrote scripts for two which I needed to collect. For most of the day I waited in for the delivery from physio which didn't arrive. Luckily I phoned the hospital at about 3'ish to be told that a mistake had been made. That meant I could zoom out to pick up the meds. It's Fair Fortnight in Glasgow which means that Monday is a local holiday.

Hugs to those who could use them. Happy Saturday.

    Morning everyone,

We had a lovely day’s racing thank you Holly and came home slightly sunburnt, footsore but happy. I only managed a couple of places but others did better including my DOH whose long shot winner bagged him well over £100 :j

A quieter day planned for today, will get over to see lovely Lu and then just potter, will probably watch the football but must be hard to muster enthusiasm if you are a player offered the choice of 3rd or 4th place.

Hugs to all with worries and cares, take care folks x
